The Question That Started Everything
"When will I ever use this?"
I heard it constantly as a high school teacher. I still hear it from teens today.
And here's the thing—the honest answer was often: "You probably won't. Not like this."
That gap—between what school teaches and what life actually requires—became the problem I couldn't stop thinking about. Not because schools are failing. But because no one had built the bridge. No one was showing teens where they'd use what they were learning. No one was connecting the classroom to the life waiting on the other side of graduation.
So I started building it myself.
Who I Am (The Short Version)
I'm a former high school teacher who left the classroom but not the work.
I've worked in hospital labs, where precision and systems and processes matter more than enthusiasm. I've worked in workforce development, helping veterans translate military skills into civilian careers—watching smart, capable people struggle because no one ever taught them how to communicate what they know.
I'm a Coast Guard spouse who's navigated transitions, relocations, and starting over more times than I can count. I'm a mom who homeschools and understands neurodivergent learners from the inside—not just from textbooks.
The thread through all of it? Every role taught me something about how people actually learn. And what happens when systems don't meet them where they are.
I hold certifications in learning strategy, project management, and data analytics. But honestly? The most useful education came from watching what works in real rooms with real people—and noticing what doesn't.
The Problem I Keep Seeing
Schools teach content. Life requires application.
Parents know life skills matter—but they don't know how to teach them without turning every conversation into a power struggle. Teens tune out because they can't see the relevance. "This will matter someday" lands about as well as you'd expect.
(Spoiler: it doesn't land.)
The real problem isn't information. There's plenty of information. The problem is buy-in. It's relevance. It's the gap between knowing something matters and actually caring enough to engage with it.
You can't lecture your way across that gap. You can't pressure your way across it either.
You have to build something different.
What Life Prep Curriculum Actually Is
The simple version: Standards-aligned life skills resources for teens—designed so parents can teach practical skills without the guesswork, the pressure, or the fight.

I build curriculum that answers "when will I ever use this?" before teens even ask it.
Everything I create connects academic standards to real-world application. It's designed for neurodivergent learners first—because what works for them tends to work for everyone. It prioritizes buy-in over compliance. It removes the prep work so parents can actually use it. And it focuses on awareness and habit-building, not perfection.
I'm not selling lessons. I'm not selling worksheets. I'm not even selling frameworks, really.
I'm selling relief. Alignment. A clear starting point. Confidence that builds before adulthood gets expensive.
The Standards to Life™ Framework
Here's what I noticed: we have academic standards for everything. Math. Science. English. History. Detailed, measurable, mapped across grade levels.
But where are the standards for the stuff that actually determines whether someone thrives as an adult?
So I built them.
Standards to Life™ is a framework that maps what teens actually need to know for adulthood—12 core competency domains covering financial literacy, health and wellness, career readiness, digital citizenship, relationships, communication, civic engagement, and more. Each domain has specific skills that research shows correlate with adult success and life satisfaction.
Every lesson I create connects academic standards to these real-world applications. The bridge I wished existed when I was teaching? This is it.
Standards to Life™ isn't about abandoning academics. It's about making them mean something. Showing teens exactly where they'll use what they're learning—so the answer to "when will I ever use this?" is finally obvious.
How I Build (My Process)
I design everything neurodivergent-first. Clear structure. Visual tracking. Predictable format. Permission-based language—"you might try" instead of "you must." Reduced demands. Built-in flexibility. Room to engage partially without feeling like a failure.
Why? Because what works for neurodivergent learners works for everyone. And because compliance-based education doesn't actually build skills that stick.
Every product is low-prep for parents. No teaching degree required. No hours of preparation. Hand them the workbook. The system does the work.
I use acronym-based methods that stick—SMART for money skills, SHARP for consumer protection, CLEAR for communication, PLACE for career planning. Teens cycle through these frameworks repeatedly until the skills become automatic. Not one-and-done lessons that fade by next week. Repetition across different contexts until the response is built in.
Every product includes daily or weekly actions that take 5-15 minutes. Visual progress tracking. Reflection prompts framed as invitations, not requirements. Real-world application built into every lesson. And celebration of progress—not just completion.
Progress over pressure. Always.
Who This Is For

What I Believe
Buy-in beats compliance. A teen who wants to learn will always outperform one who's forced to. Every time.
Awareness comes before management. You can't budget what you don't notice. You can't change habits you haven't identified. Awareness is the foundation everything else builds on.
Relevance is the unlock. When teens see why something matters—to their actual life, not "someday"—everything shifts. The resistance drops. The engagement shows up.
Repetition builds automaticity. One lesson doesn't create habits. Cycling through skills multiple times—across different contexts, different scenarios—does. That's how behaviors become automatic.
Structure creates freedom. Especially for neurodivergent learners, clear frameworks reduce anxiety and increase capacity. Predictability isn't limiting—it's liberating.
Parents aren't failing. They're navigating systems that weren't designed for real life. The gap isn't their fault. But they're the ones who can bridge it—with the right tools.
What Success Looks Like
Not perfect teens who never make mistakes.
Teens who pause before spending—automatically. Who notice patterns in their own behavior. Who ask questions before signing up for things. Who know how to research instead of just trusting whatever shows up first.
Teens who can recover when Plan A fails. Who feel equipped, not anxious, about what's coming.
The goal isn't mastery. It's readiness. Awareness. Confidence. The sense that adulthood is something they can handle—not something to dread.
That's what we're building here.
Why I Keep Doing This
I've seen what happens when people enter adulthood without the skills they need.
I see it in workforce development every day—smart, capable people who were never taught how to translate what they know into what employers need. Who struggle with the "soft skills" that aren't soft at all. Who feel behind before they've even started.
I've also seen what happens when someone finally gets the framework they were missing. When the light clicks on. When they stop feeling behind and start feeling equipped.
That's what I want for every teen.
Not perfection. Just preparation. Not mastery of everything. Just the tools to figure it out.
